Archbishop Anastasios of Albania undergoing health checks at Evangelismos hospital

The Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Albania Anastasios, who was rushed to Athens from Tirana, is being treated at “ Evangelismos” Hospital. He is undergoing health checks so that doctors can decide whether he will be treated in an intensive care unit or in a room. Anastasios is reportedly not intubated and is communicating with his surroundings.
The C-27J aircraft that airlifted him from Tirana landed at 19:34 at the Elefsina air base.
The aircraft was carrying a doctor and two rescuers, members of the National Center for Emergency Care's flying medical team, who accompanied the 95-year-old Archibishop during the airlift.
Since December 30, Archbishop Anastasios had been hospitalized in Tirana Hospital with a virus. His health condition deteriorated, and he developed gastro-bleeding, and it was deemed necessary to transfer him to "Evangelismos" hospital.
