Androulakis: Greek taxpayers should not pay New Democracy fine over email leaks

The "scandal of the emails" of overseas registered voters who became recipients of New Democracy-related campaign material and cost the public half a million euros should not be shouldered by the Greek people, PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis said on Wednesday.

In a post on TikTok, Androulakis referred to the fine imposed on the Ministry of the Interior "for the leaking of emails of Greeks abroad to New Democracy (ND) party officials."

"These holidays we traditionally give gifts to those we love. I do not however believe that the Greek taxpayers want to make a gift of half a million euros to ND," the main opposition leader said.

"Half a million euros is the cost of the email scandals starring ND party officials. Will Greek taxpayers shoulder this as well?" he said, calling on New Democracy to pay the cost of the scandal itself.
