Little train of Pelion suspended anew after new derailing

Hellenic Train announced that the operation of the 'Little Train of Pelion' has been again until further notice, after the train derailed on its first trip from Ano Lechonia to Milies after resuming operation. None of the passengers were injured during the incident.
The train, which primarily serves day-trippers wishing to enjoy the scenic route through the Pelion mountain landscape, was due to resume its operation on Saturday after a long break. The service had been suspended in September 2024.
A Hellenic Train announcement said the train had been moving at the recommended speed when the incident occurred, while the eight passengers in the first carriage were immediately transferred to the carriages at the back of the train.
The authorities were informed and the police and fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene, while none of the 37 passengers on board were injured. Those who wished to do so made their way on foot to Milies, as the train had almost reached its destination, escorted by police and railway staff, where they were offered a meal and a bus to return them to Ano Lechonia.
The train was successfully placed back on the track and completed its journey to Milies without passengers.
