PM Mitsotakis: Greece aims to play a leading role in the new world of AI

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking on Wednesday at an educational seminar on Artificial Intelligence in the context of Google's "AI Connect" conference, which was held at the Athens Concert Hall, stressed that "Greece aims to play a leading role in the new world of artificial intelligence".
He stressed that several members of ministers are participating in the conference and described as extremely interesting the presentation on how AI can help at the level of various applications to improve public policies. He stressed that Greece aspires to play a leading role in the new world that is taking shape and referred to the National Strategy for AI. He said that Greece and specifically the "Pharos" project was selected as one of the seven AI Factories by the European Commission. "In other words, in AI infrastructure, Greece is now playing in the European Champions League," Mitsotakis said.
He also said that AI is a useful tool for improving public policies and thus making citizens' lives better. "Whether we are talking about applications in health, whether we are talking about applications in civil protection, whether we are talking about applications that can make life in our city easier, AI is a unique tool that must now be integrated into public policies," Mitsotakis said.
He also referred to the risks of its use and added that Greece aspires to play a leading role in Europe in this field, namely in the further specification of the European legislative framework of the Al Act.
