PM Mitsotakis: Upcoming measures for consumer and depositor relief in banks
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking in the Hellenic Parliament during the debate on the Ministry of Labour and Social Security's bill on the minimum wage, stressed that the "present bill is a very important change in the labour market and a bold breakthrough in its development, based on the way the minimum wage is determined, which from 2027 onwards will follow an upward course."
Mitsotakis also noted that the bill "finally closes a very difficult era for our country, that of cuts in wages and pensions. Therefore, with this bill, the minimum wage will be the beginning of an upward cycle of professional and personal advancement." He reiterated that the government's goal is for the minimum wage to reach 950 euros by 2027 and for the average to reach or exceed 1,500 euros.
Regarding the operation of banks, Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced interventions aimed at relieving consumers and depositors.
Also on PASOK's proposals to reduce VAT on basic products Kyriakos Mitsotakis cited the example of Spain and stressed that "the reduction of VAT led to a temporary reduction in prices, but cumulatively led to higher increases than in our country where VAT is higher".
