Members of new Council on Intangible Cultural Heritage announced

The members of the Council of Intangible Cultural Heritage were were announced by the Culture Ministry on Wednesday, following a decision by Minister Lina Mendoni.
The 19 members include officials of the Culture Ministry and the Environment and Energy ministry, UNESCO's Greek chapter, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Academy of Athens, and the Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia Thrace, as well as other specialists in research or experience in the preservation of modern cultural heritage.
Council members will act as an advisory body to the minister of Culture on protecting and showcasing the intangible cultural heritage of Greece, evaluate requests to add to the National Registry of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece, and draw up and implement plans to preserve what the registry contains. Members will serve for three years.
