Draft law on tax cuts and company mergers posted for public consultation

A draft law of the National Economy and Finance Ministry on tax regulations and company mergers was posted on Tuesday, including 12 tax cuts and measures to boost citizens' incomes.

The bill, named "Measures to boost income, tax incentives for innovation and business transformations and other regulations" also includes reforms updating tax laws. Among them are tax cuts for taxpayers who settle their taxes consistently and punitive measures for government officials and companies who delay filing data with the tax service (AADE).

The draft law also includes the following: a supplementary state budget for 2024 to fund significant infrastructure and ongoing works by 400 million euros in total; incentives for mergers and buyouts of companies; tax incentrives for scientific and technological research; the upgrade of AADE's managerial model; no taxation of tips up to 300 euros per month or obligation to pay social security fees on it; and boosting Greek economy's resilience before the repercussions of climate change.

Commenting on the bill, National Economy & Economics Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said: "We continue with the same dynamic and persistence the significant reforms aiming at boosting citizens' incomes and improving their daily lives. All this (is done) without upsetting Greece's fiscal stability, which is, after all, a prerequisite for any socially fair policy."
