Zacharaki presents policy framework for demographics and housing at the municipalities' union KEDE

Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zacharaki presented the Ministry’s key initiatives to address demographic challenges and housing policy at the relevant committee of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE).

Regarding the demographic issue, she announced a commitment of 20 billion euros until 2035, with 17 immediate actions directed towards municipalities. On housing policy, Zacharaki outlined all ongoing and upcoming housing programs, with special mention of the "Social Housing for the Most Vulnerable Groups" program, funded with 1,642,628 euros from the Recovery Fund. The program aims to address housing exclusion for vulnerable groups, including those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

The demographic issue will be a central theme at KEDE’s annual conference, scheduled for November 7-9 in Rhodes, as it remains a key concern for local governance.
