City of Athens archaeological sites to remain closed from noon until 17:00

All archaeological sites in the City of Athens - which include the Acropolis, Ancient Agora and Kerameikos Cemetery, among others - are to remain closed between noon and 17:00 on Thursday due to the extremely high temperatures forecast in the Greek capital, the culture ministry announced.

Those who have already bought tickets during that time slot can visit the archaeological site once it reopens, between 17:00 and 20:00 on Thursday, the ministry said.

It also advised the public to take precautionary measures to protect against the heat while visiting archaeological sites, in order to avoid problems such as heatstroke or heat exhaustion.
