The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) is the only real opposition in Greece, General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoubas told Radio Thessaloniki 94.5 on Friday.

In an interview ahead of European elections on Sunday, Koutsoubas said that during the last five years in Greece and at the European Parliament, the deputies of the current opposition parties voted the same way as ruling New Democracy, to a rate of 55%-95%. "KKE is recognized as the true opposition all these years. The very least victory claimed by the Greek people during these years, the very least antipopular work that was prevented, came from the decisive contribution of KKE's deputies and Eurodeputies," he said. 

Koutsoubas also said that NATO and the European Union "do not protect Greece in any sector." He added that KKE took a stance against the Prespa Agreement and "we did not vote for it, and that is what we will do now. We say that both North Macedonia and Greece and all countries should leave NATO. These agreements and the EU should be denounced."
