Greek president highlights Greece's role as UN Security Council member

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou emphasized the international recognition of Greece's stabilizing role, its commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and its full respect for human rights, on the occasion of the country's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on Thursday.

"Greece's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2025-26 is an international recognition of its stabilizing role, as well as its commitment to peaceful settlement of disputes and full respect of human rights. In the present, extremely critical circumstances for international security, our country will continue to proceed in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter," Sakellaropoulou said.
