Ministry's approach focuses on 'a vision for sustainable tourism', Kefalogianni says

Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni on Monday underlined the main goal of the tourism ministry's strategy, while addressing an event for the exhibition on American photographer and philhellene Robert McCabe at the Acropolis Museum, with the title “ Χαίρε Ξένε. In the land of dreams”.
"Greece should become a model of sustainable tourism development," emphasised Kefalogianni, adding that the Ministry of Tourism implements its strategy based on a detailed plan that clearly aims at sustainable tourism that protects the environment but also generates fair and inclusive growth, which benefits all of society.
She said that the ministry's approach to Greek tourism, among others, focuses on highlighting the country's qualitative characteristics, but also its culture, and focuses on connecting culture, tourism and tourist activity with the inexhaustible cultural assets of Greece.
Referring to the idea of the "Χαίρε Ξένε, in the land of dreams" exhibition, Olga Kefalogianni pointed out that it was born out of a new vision for Greek tourism. "A vision that serves moderation, balance, respect for man, nature, the traditions of our country," explained the minister, and added that through the photographs of Robert McCabe, a timeless Greece full of emotion, authenticity and history was captured. The 100 works selected for the exhibition depict a photographic journey of life in Greece, which for Robert McCabe began in the 1950s, the minister noted.
This exhibition, she said, was dedicated to preserving the authenticity, the character, the natural environment and the great cultural capital of the country. In fact, she added, it was in line with the ministry's vision for sustainable tourism, which supports the values of a Greece that respect its past, a Greece that continues to inspire and fascinate people from every corner of the globe.
