Greek Agriculture Minister Avgenakis to meet with counterparts in France, Slovenia Wed-Thurs

Rural Development and Food Minister Lefteris Avgenakis will meet with his counterparts in France and Slovenia on Wednesday and Thursday over amendments to the Common Agricultural Policy and a permanent mechanism for crises in the EU.
Specifically, on Wednesday Avgenakis will fly to Paris for talks with French Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Minister Marc Fesneau. According to a ministry statement, they will discuss 19 proposals tabled by Greece, including allocating 2% of CAP's annual budget to managing climate crises and special support following them.
On Thursday morning, the Greek minister will fly to Ljubljana to meet with Slovenian Agriculture, Forestry and Food Minister Mateja Čalušić. He will underline the urgent need for changes to the existing CAP, arguing that if the changes are not implemented in time, no country will be able to absorb 100% of the funding allocated to its farmers.
The ministry's statement added that Avgenakis will also discuss issues related to the export of Greek farm products in France and Slovenia.
