Twenty-seven migrants being rescued off drifting boat, south of Gavdos

Greek Port Authorities are in the process of rescuing 27 migrants south of Greece's southernmost island, Gavdos, on Thursday.

The migrants were adrift on a boat from which they sent a signal for help, and authorities are transferring them to Sfakia, on southern Crete, for registration and first aid.

According to information provided to ANA-MPA, they are all men who may be transferred to the facilities of the Kalathas summer camp in Chania, NW Crete.

Gavdos and its sea region have served as a gateway to Greece in multiple occasions recently.
