Kasselakis: SYRIZA's unity starts today

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis addressing the party Central Committee meeting on Sunday stated that "SYRIZA-PA's unity starts today."

In the wake of the withdrawal of the members of the so-called "umbrella" group from the party, Kasselakis asked from the two MPs that are included in those who left to deliver their seats to the party.
Regarding the referendum issue, Kasselakis said that "obviously it is real that there is no need for expulsions so there is no need for referendum". He also noted that he totally agrees with the text of the political decision that will be announced by the decision committee which, as he read, is the following: "The persons that launch such insults and slander can't be members of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance and represent the party" adding that the "disciplinary penalties are imposed by the Ethics Committee".

Earlier, Forty five members of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance that are included in the so-called "umbrella" announced in letter to the secretary and to the alternate secretary of the party on Sunday that they are leaving from the party.
Among them are main opposition deputies Euclid Tsakalotos and Peti Perka as well as Nikos Filis and Dimitris Vitsas. The letter was also signed, among others, by Dimitris Vitsas, Nikos Voutsis and Panos Skourletis,(both had left the party last Friday), Andreas Xanthos, Panos Lambrou, Thodoris Dritsas, Anneta Kavvadia, Maria Yiannakaki, Efi Kalamara, Katerina Knitou and Tasia Christodoulopoulou.
Given the withdrawal of the party of two MPs (Euclid Tsakalotos and Peti Perka), SYRIZA-PA parliamentary group loses two deputies and now is comprised by 47 instead of 45 in the 300-member Greek parliament.
