Armed forces personnel sent to aid Libya injured in road accident

Hellenic Armed Forces medical personnel sent to aid Libya were injured in a road accident on Sunday afternoon, when the coach transporting the members of the mission to Derna collided with an oncoming vehicle going the other way, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff announced.
According to Greek authorities in Libya, the circumstances of the accident have yet to be clarified and the armed forces personnel have suffered minor injuries. Those injured have been transferred to nearby hospitals, while the causes of the incident are being investigated in collaboration with Libyan authorities.
An operation to collect the personnel in Benghazi and repatriate them was underway, while a Hellenic Air Force C-130 transport plane with nursing staff on board was ready to take off crom the 112 Combat Wing at Elefsina.
According to a foreign ministry announcement, the Greek General Consulate in Benghazi, acting in collaboration with the national defence ministry, the United Nations and the European Union, was ready to provide assistance to the mission and help in its repatriation.
