The two fire fronts in the area of Lefkimmi (Evros) at a creek north of Soufli were still raging on Sunday. The firefighting forces consisted by 122 fire engines with a  582-member crew, 16 teams of firefighters on foot assisted by 9 firefighting aircraft and eight helicopters are battling the blaze.

During the night the fire front got stronger and threatened the village of Lefkimmi but the firefighters prevented it of getting into the village. The creation of fire zones continue north of Soufli.
