Greek evacuation efforts from Sudan wrapping up with flight arriving at Elefsina

A flight with 20 Greek and 19 foreign nationals arriving at Elefsina airbase at 21:00 tonight (Thursday) will wrap up Greece's efforts to evacuate people from Sudan and the warring situation there, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff said in a statement.

Specifically, the evacuees will be transported from Wadi Seidna airbase, north of Khartoum, to Greece through Aswan, Egypt.

Evacuation operations began on April 23 (Sunday) and continued on a daily bases until today (April 27). Flights stopped at Aswan, Djibouti, or Aqaba in Jordan to pick up evacuees - both Greeks and other nationals - before flying to Greece. These operations  were supervised live by Deputy Defense Minister Nikos Hardalias and the head of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Constantine Floros, from the ministry's National Operations Center.
