Governor Gen'l Hurley the first Australian state leader to visit Greece in 25+ years

Australia's Governor General David Hurley will soon be visiting Greece in the first time in over 25 years that an Australian state leader is visiting the country, the Australian Ambassador to Athens Arthur Spyrou tweeted on Wednesday.

En route to King Charles' coronation ceremony (May 6), Hurley and his spouse are visiting "to celebrate the historic links and close friendship between our nations! Their excellencies will also visit Lemnos to commemorate the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) connection to the island," Spyrou added.

In Athens, Hurley will meet with both the Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Hurley is scheduled to depart Australia on April 30.
