Train workers' unions call for mass protest gathering at Syntagma Sq. on Sunday morning

Train workers' unions in Athens Urban Rail Transport (STASY) on Saturday announced a strike that will affect metro lines 1, 2 and 3 on Sunday, March 5.

They are also calling for a mass protest gathering at Syntagma Square at 11:00 am on the day, all in relation to the fatal train crash at Tempi.

Although this mobilization was announced as a 24-hour strike, the unions -which include train drivers- clarified that metro train services in Athens will only be partially paused, that is from shift's start in the early morning until 09:00 and from 16:00 until the end of shift, to facilitate the transportation of protesters from 9am to 4pm, it was stressed in the announcement.
