Economou: The government places emphasis on balanced development throughout Greece

"The prime minister is on tour throughout Greece to tell people that the government has met its promises and also to listen to their needs," government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said on Monday, during the daily press briefing.

"We speak to Greek society through our work and society sees it," he underlined.

He also said that the government places emphasis on the goal of achieving balanced development in all Greek regions.

Economou referred to the Recovery and Resilience Fund "Greece 2.0" and the approval for the disbursement of the second payment. He noted that the RRF funds have so far reached 11 billion euros. "This money is turning into a social asset," he underlined, stressing that "we are next to the citizens, providing real solutions."

In addition, he referred to the backlog of pending pension applications, stating that "this disgrace is coming to an end," while citing specific pension issuance figures.

He also spoke about the progress made in the digitisation of state services, stating that digital transactions in 2022 exceeded 1 billion and each citizen had avoided more than 100 queues. Among others, Economou referred to the process of starting a new business online. "This is another decisive step to strengthen entrepreneurship," he said.

For Greek producers and farmers he noted that record payments from the rural development programme were made in 2022.

Finally, he reported on the decisions of Government Council on National Security (KYSEA).
