Economou: Message by Azov Battalion member in Zelensky speech 'mistaken and ill-advised'

"President Zelensky, in his speech to the Hellenic Parliament, described the horrors that the Russian invasion has inflicted on the Ukrainian people and focused on his people's historic resistance. The inclusion in the speech of a message by a member of the Azov battalion was mistaken and ill-advised," government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said on Thursday.
At the same time, he lashed out at the "infuriating and dishonest use of this mistake" by the opposition parties - while he especially singled out main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras - "to once again justify the Russian invasion, an invasion that causes the execution of civilians and a humanitarian disaster".
"If anything is shameful, it is that they do not adopt a clearcut position...The time has come for clear answers: Are they with the Ukrainians, who are fighting for their freedom, or with Putin's invaders? There is no other choice," he added.
