Greece & Russia sign cooperation protocol in Moscow, ahead of Greek premier's visit

Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis co-chaired the 13th Greek-Russian Joint Interministerial Committee meeting with the Russian Federation's Transport Minister Vitaly Saveliev, in Moscow on Tuesday.

Wrapping up a two-day official visit to Russia, Varvitsiotis also signed with Saveliev the Greece-Russia Cooperation Protocol.

"The Cooperation Protocol is a successful agreement that paves the way for a new, deeper collaboration between Greece and Russia, and lays the foundations for a productive and successful visit by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis," Varvitsiotis pointed out in a post on Twitter.

The cooperation protocol includes a series of agreements on tourism, energy, transport, science and technology cooperation, interregional cooperation, cultural matters, and also on issues relating to tax administration.

On Monday, Varvitsiotis met at the Greek Embassy in Moscow with Greek business people active in Russia. "The cornerstone of Greek-Russian cooperation lies in the economy. We have confidence in Greek businessmen. You are our best ambassadors!" he wrote on Twitter.

The Greek premier is scheduled to visit Moscow on December 8, according to an announcement on the Greek Foreign Ministry's official website.
