All fire fronts on Rhodes abating

All fire fronts on the island of Rhodes was abating on Monday, with firefighting forces and volunteers battling the blaze overnight. The firefighting aircraft and the water dousing helicopters started operating at dawn and there was optimism that the wildfire will be soon be fully under control.
The regional governor of Southern Aegean, Giorgos Hatzimarkos, said: "The dawn found Rhodes in a better condition than last night. The fire fronts are abating and the damage to the power supply has been restored."
