National Vaccination Committee recommends continued use of AstraZeneca vaccine

Greece's National Vaccination Committee, in a unanimous decision on Tuesday, recommended that the use of AstraZeneca vaccine in Greece be continued, according to schedule.
In an announcement the committee said, among others:
"During Tuesday's meeting, the National Vaccination Committee again examined the issue that has arisen after reports of isolated thromboembolic events in people vaccinated using the AstraZeneca vaccine, following the temporary precautionary suspension of [AstraZeneca] vaccinations by additional countries.
"The committee examined that data available to date and unanimously judged that there is no reason to change its recommendation made on March 11, 2021. The Committee underlined that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended the continuation of vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine."
The announcement also noted that the Committee is closely following the assessments of the EMA and WHO, as well as reports of possible unwanted side effects of all the vaccines against COVID-19.
