Tsakalotos: ND's social security plan is threatening

Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, in an interview with Open TV on Friday, accused main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis of planning to implement a social security system that brings in private insurance companies and is "threatening" for current and future pensioners.

"New Democracy has outlined three different plans regarding the social security system," he said.

Regarding ND's announcements regarding tax cuts, Tsakalotos spoke of ambiguities as "Mr. Mitsotakis sometimes places the reductions in 2019, at other times in 2020 and at times says the action he takes will depend on the fiscal space [available]."

He also commented that during SYRIZA's governance, foreign direct investment doubled.
