FM Katrougalos: Greece is aligned with the EU on the Venezuelan crisis

Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos posted on Twitter on Wednesday Greece's position regarding the Venezuelan crisis, which is aligned with Europe's position.
Katrougalos is in Qatar as part of his tour in Gulf countries.
"In the Venezuelan crisis, Greece is aligned with Europe and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. It is clear which political power is both democratic and truly European. With the Europe of many, of the peoples and the values," he noted.
He also pointed out that "the statements by New Democracy executives appear to favor a military solution in Venezuela", stressing that "Greeks are unfortunately aware of similar" solutions. And he added: "Yesterday the democratic Europe was clearly and responsibly placed. It asked for a solution only by peaceful, democratic means, elections, in order to avoid a bloodshed."
On Tuesday, Mogherini stated: "There can only be a political, peaceful and democratic way out for the multiple crises the country is facing."
She added that the EU rejected any form of violence and called for a de-escalation of the conflict to prevent the loss of lives.
“ We will continue to spare no efforts to achieve a reinstatement of democracy and rule of law, through free and fair elections, in accordance with the Venezuelan constitution.”
