French Ambassador Chantepy: Optimism returns to Greece

"Optimism returns to Greece, which is recovering after strenuous efforts," French Ambassador in Athens Christophe Chantepy said on Saturday in an event held at the gardens of the French School to celebrate the Bastille Day.
"The country has overcome its fiscal problems, the debt is becoming viable, and it can now turn to growth," he added, stressing that "investors trust Greece again." Chantepy welcomed "the French companies present in Greece as well as those that are considering coming."
Chantepy stressed that Greece can count on its young people, its innovation talents, and France will continue to support it.
In spite of the climate of doubt and the wave of populism in France and Europe a year ago, as a result of the talks on Brexit and the elections in the Netherlands and France, there is now a wind of optimism, the Ambassador said, stressing that "the sirens of populism scared the people rather than charming them."
Today, optimism returns to France," he said, noting that "there are commitments for difficult reforms to bring back the momentum that our economy deserves."
The President of the Republic works to help France keep its position in Europe and the world, he added.
"Optimism is also re-emerging in Europe. And this is happening because growth is coming back, because the European project is back on the agenda," he added.
"Today, the desire for more Europe has resurrected, because the prevailing idea is that we are better together than on our own," he said.
